Report: Gunmen kill three Eni workers in Nigeria

Three oil workers employed by Italian oil company Eni in Nigeria were reportedly killed last week when a vessel carrying the workers was attacked.

According to Bloomberg, which cited a statement by Eni, the vessel was attacked last Wednesday while on its way to a well location for routine operations in the Nembe area.

Three workers were reported killed after unknown gunmen opened fire. Bloomberg further cited Eni, which said that other three team members managed to escape.

According to the Nigerian news sources, the bodies of two workers were recovered by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) two days after the attack. The bodies were reportedly discovered in Oguama River close to Oguama community in Bayelsa.

Nigerian news  website Pulse.ng alleges that the attack was carried out by gunmen loyal to Niger Delta Avengers, a militant group in Nigeria’s Niger Delta.

Offshore Energy Today has contacted Eni, seeking more details. We will update the article if we get a response.
