Report: Novatek mulls Yamal FLNG

Novatek of Russia is reportedly considering building the second line of the Yamal LNG project as an FLNG unit.

According to news agency PRIME-TASS, Russia’s Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Andrei Dutov said on Tuesday that Novatek is studying options for the construction of the floating LNG plant near the Belokamenka vessel.

The project is at the initial stage of development and no feasibility study has been done yet, the report said.

The USD 27 billion Yamal LNG project in the Arctic includes a liquefaction plant with a capacity of 16.5 million tons per annum.

The three process trains that will make up this complex will have an annual production output of 5.5 million tons each, and are planned to be commissioned in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
