Roll Group Taking Remaining Two Vessels from BigRoll JV

Following last week’s announcement by Dutch heavy lift company BigLift Shipping about parting ways with Roll Shipping in the BigRoll joint venture, Roll Group confirmed the decision, saying that BigRoll would continue its services under its umbrella.

Furthermore, Dutch Roll Group would take over the two remaining module carriers from the joint venture: BigRoll Bering and Bigroll Beaufort.

As disclosed by BigLift, the duo decided to end their cooperation in the joint venture as of January 1st, 2018.

Neither company wanted to disclose the reasons behind the decision in their releases.

The joint venture was formed in May 2013, when the duo announced the construction of two MC-Class Module Carriers for the transportation of ultra large and heavy modular cargoes by sea.

BigRoll concentrates on the offshore and onshore oil and gas and renewables markets, power generation, container cranes and shipyard industries. The JV’s fleet comprised four vessels BigRoll Barentsz, BigRoll Bering, BigRoll Baffin and BigRoll Beaufort, with the final one yet to be delivered from the shipyard.

BigLift said that as of the beginning of next year, the two heavy transport vessels, now renamed BigLift Barentsz and BigLift Baffin, will be added to the BigLift’s fleet.

Roll Group has distributed its operations across three companies, those being RollDock, Roll-Lift and BigRoll. The RollDock fleet comprises of three S-Class and two ST-Class vessels.
