Rolls Royce Marine to Take Part in LNG Technology Summit

Rolls Royce Marine, a global leader in marine integrated and propulsion systems, will participate at the upcoming 2nd edition of the LNG Technology World Summit, Doha.

The conference which is scheduled to take place on 25-26 of this month will convene professionals accountable for achieving technical excellence across the LNG value chain.

Rolls Royce is a known name in the industry with their marine business serving more than 4,000 customers and equipment installed on over 30,000 vessels.

Their operations in the marine business include vessel design, integration of complex systems and the supply and support of power and propulsion equipment. They are leaders in mission-critical systems for offshore oil and gas, merchant and naval vessels.

Stein Ruben Larsen, Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Cargo Vessel at Rolls Royce Marine will address the summit on day 2 – 26th Spetember 2012, where he will talk about ‘The Environship Concept’.

His presentation will include an in-depth discussion on the propulsive efficiency and improved maneuverability system – Promas, Rolls-Royce Gas Engines, HSG, and the Rolls-Royce Wave Piercing Technology. He will be joined by Mr. Ravi K., Vice President, Asia Pacific Division.

Explaining the need and scope for propulsion systems in the LNG segment, Mr. Larsen said, “Globally, shipowners and operators are assessing the required investment to meet present and future environmental regulations. The quest to reduce operating costs, optimizing efficiency and reducing emission is in their centre of thinking. Development of LNG as a marine fuel has shown great potential in emissions reduction and lower fuel cost benefits. The availability and supply of LNG as well as advancements in gas engine technologies are leading to a growing interest in LNG propulsion for a wide range of vessels. Gas engine is clean and and a good start in reducing emission. Rolls-Royce is already established in this market, with strong track record as a manufacturer of gas engines and as a supplier of complete system solutions and ship designs, with vessels in service and under construction. With an extensive product range, Rolls-Royce has the ability to integrate future-proof ship design with performance matched systems to help operators achieve energy efficiency and low emissions.”

Additionally the summit will host discussions on liquefaction and regasification technologies, LNG handling, transport and storage, advances in market development and will study the forces that are affecting LNG demand and supply around the world.

Dr. Brian Buckley, CEO at Oman LNG LLC., Jos Evens from Exxonmobil – Qatar, David Small from The AGA Group and National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago, Radia Sedaoui from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, Acun Bahri from Chevron and many others are scheduled to participate.
