ROV tooling firm ROVQUIP said it has further expanded its rental capabilities with the Webtool CRT200T cable retrieval tool.

CRT200 comes with Hot Stab or Torque Tool interface for subsea ops and can also come with various cutting tools.

This compliments ROVQUIP pool of rental tools, following the recent investment in its ROV tooling and manipulator rental fleet.

Designed and manufactured in the UK exclusively by Allspeeds, the CRT200 recovers damaged cable and umbilical.

Webtool recently redesigned the CRT200 for large diameter cable and longer subsea deployment in up to 1,500 metres depth.

An ROV guides and lowers the gripper onto the end of the cable without preliminary clearing of the soil around the cable.

The mechanically locked gripping action ensures the umbilical cannot escape during retrieval. Moreover, an internal clutch mechanism prevents damage from overtightening.

By gripping the end of the cable, it makes subsequent handling easier, enabling the cable to be recovered to a reeler or spooler on the surface vessel, Allspeeds explains.

The redesigned cable gripper can stay subsea for up to 20 days between cable recovery projects.

The DNV GL-approved CRT200 cable gripper weighs approximately 600 kilograms and has a maximum load capacity of 20 tonnes.
