Almaz Shipbuilding Starts Construction of Ice-Class Patrol Ship of Project 22120

Keel-laying ceremony of Project 22120 ice-class patrol ship (serial number 051) was held on Nov 25 at JSC Almaz Shipbuilding Firm. Prior to the ceremony there was a briefing attended by Governor of St. Petersburg, members of the city legislative assembly, Director of Northwest Border Guard Dept, Almaz shipbuilders, and other guests.

According to the shipyard’s director general Leonid Grabovets, the yard is workloaded enough and expects for new contracts.

Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko, Director General of Almaz shipyard Leonid Grabovets and Director of Northwest Frontier Dept attached the keel-laying plaque to the ship’s hull section.

At present, the shipyard continues construction of Project 22460 patrol ship Zhemchug for Russian Coast Guard, Project 22630 small-size gunship Makhachkala for Caspian Flotilla, her predecessor – Volgodonsk – completes state trials program.
