Russia: Baltic Shipyard Lays Keel for Fourth Oil Tanker of Project 2734

Baltic Shipyard today laid the keel for the 4th oil tanker under the Project 2734 for KONTUR LLC. Baltic Shipyard and Baltic Fuel Company Group (BFC) signed the contract in November 2010, and it will be financed by the Bank of Saint Petersburg.

The Project 2734, designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, was developed to satisfy the customer’s requirements, according to the latest innovations and internationally approved standards of shipbuilding.

Taisiya, the Lead vessel of this project, was launched on Sept. 27, 2011.

length – 108.32 m,

beam – 16.86 m,

hull height – 4.75 m,

displacement – 6120 tons,

light displacement – 1020 tons.

Baltiysky Zavod, JSC production capacities and most modern equipment allows the shipyard to build and deliver turn-key ships and vessels. The shipbuilding facilities include three construction sites: two open-air slipways and one enclosed slipway. Slipway A – 350 m long – is the longest one in Russia allowing the shipyard to build and launch vessels up to 100,000 dwt. The enclosed slipway features most modern shipbuilding equipment. The shipyard outfitting berth is 900 m long, the depth at the berth is 10 m. It is equipped with three 50-ton portal cranes. Superstructure blocks are handled by the 350-ton Demag floating crane with hoisting height up to 50 m.
