Saab Seaeye Appoints Two New Directors (UK)

Saab’s decision to centralise its underwater vehicle organisation in the UK, has led to the appointment of two new directors to the board of Saab Seaeye Ltd. This follows the Fareham-based company’s expanded responsibility for Saab’s underwater vehicle defence division and its existing and growing commercial ROV operations.

Bert Johansson is the new Sales Director Defence, and Mark Exeter becomes Operations Director.

Bert Johansson joined Saab in 1986 as an Electronics Engineer. Other responsibilities and appointments include: Integrated Logistics Support Manager and After Sales Manager, where his responsibilities included after-sales support for both defence and commercial operations. Following a time as ROV Project Manager, he was promoted to Director of Strategy for Saab’s UV division in Sweden. In his new role as Sales Director Defence based in Sweden, Bert will be responsible for AUV and ROV sales to the defence market world-wide.

Mark Exeter joined Saab Seaeye in 2008 as Programme Manager following 10 years’ experience in manufacturing and project management across both the energy and auto industries. In 2010 Mark was promoted to Operations Manager responsible for manufacture of all ROVs. As Operations Director, based in Fareham, his responsibility now includes the production of both ROVs and AUVs for defence and commercial markets.

Saab Seaeye is the world’s largest manufacturer of electric underwater vehicles. Its Managing Director, Dave Grant, says that the two new appointments will strengthen the top management team, and help the company build a powerful platform for growth that will serve both the civilian and military global markets.
