Sabetta Seaport Expansion Plans Revealed

The Government of the Russian Federation has made a decision to implement a new investment project, the construction of the Utrenny LNG and condensate terminal in Sabetta seaport.

The new Utrenny (Salmanovsky) construction project also includes reconstruction of an access canal in the Gulf of Ob (the Kara Sea).

According to the official website of the port, the decree was signed on 28 March 2019 (No 554-р).

Under the document, the terminal is needed for the development of the Utrenny oil and gas condensate field on the Gydan peninsula.

The project foresees land reclamation for port infrastructure, technical racks, automobile passages, technical security efficient, other structures and auxiliary engineering facilities.

The document – developed by RF Transport Ministry – follows the order of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to allocate additional resources for construction of the new terminal.

Together with Rosatom Corporation the Government is instructed to define the sources of financing and to ensure implementation of dredging works under the project on construction of the Utrenny LNG and condensate terminal in Sabetta seaport in 2019.

The reports are to be submitted by 1 May 2019 and by 1 September 2019.
