SCF Group Expands Fleet with SCF Progress Delivery (Russia)

SCF Group (Sovcomflot) saw its fleet expand further, on 18 January 2012, with the delivery and acceptance into operation of a new product tanker SCF Progress – the fifth and final ship delivered for a joint SCF / Glencore International AG project.

The project envisages the acquisition and commercial operation of five product tankers (Panamaxes LR1) for a joint venture between SCF Group and Glencore. The technical management of the vessels is being undertaken by Unicom Singapore, a Sovcomflot subsidiary. Following her delivery the tanker begins transporting energy in the South-East Asia region.

All tankers of this series are Panamax modern product carriers with double hulls (74,120 dwt; LOA 228 metres; Breadth moulded 32.2 metres). The ships are capable of transporting up to 12 different types of oil cargoes simultaneously. The improved technical specification of the tankers meets the international standards for safety of navigation and comply with the technical requirements of modern oil products terminals.
