SCF Pays Tribute to Anniversary of Vyacheslav Tikhonov, whose Name is Given to Seismic Vessel

Sovcomflot pays tribute to 85th anniversary of famous actor Vyacheslav Tikhonov, whose name is given to SCF’s seismic vessel.

8 February, 2013, marked the anniversary of the outstanding Soviet and Russian actor Vyacheslav Tikhonov, who would have been 85 today. People’s Artist of the USSR Vyacheslav Tikhonov brought many unforgettable characters to life on the cinema screen and was watched and admired by generations growing up in Russia and the CIS. The actor is best renowned for his role as the Soviet spy Stierlitz in the television series “Seventeen Moments of Spring” (directed by T. Lioznova).

According to maritime tradition, in 2011 Sovcomflot took the decision to name its fleet’s first geophysical research vessel after the great actor. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin attended the naming ceremony and watched the hoisting of the Russian flag aboard the new ship.

The Russian ship Vyacheslav Tikhonov, as part of the SCF Group fleet, will be engaged in geological surveyance work on the continental shelf, predominately in the challenging climatic conditions of the Arctic and sub-Arctic seas.
