Schlumberger delivers wellhead equipment for Ororo field

Sirius Petroleum, the Nigeria-focused oil and gas development and production company, has taken delivery of two sets of Cameron SOLIDrill modular compact wellhead systems in Nigeria.

Sirius said on Thursday that the wellhead equipment would be used on the Ororo field and that all such equipment and services would be supplied through Cameron, a Schlumberger company.

According to Sirius, Cameron SOLIDrill modular compact wellhead systems increase casing and tubing hanger landing reliability and help prevent debris from entering the wellhead. The hangers and packoffs are designed with angled shoulders to repel debris, such as dirt, metal shavings, and cement plugs.

Formerly just an investment company, Sirius Petroleum completed its transformation into an operating company following a shareholder approval and admission of the company’s enlarged share capital on the AIM on December 19.

Before that date, the company acted as a technical and financing partner in the development of the Ororo field to Guarantee Petroleum which holds a 55% participating interest in the field and Owena Oil & Gas which holds the remaining 45% interest.

It is worth reminding that Sirius Petroleum entered into a contract in December 2016 for the provision of integrated services management (ISM) with Schlumberger at the Ororo field.

As per the conditions of the deal, the oilfield services provider will provide Sirius with a package of managed and integrated products and services including directional drilling services, logging, completion and production fluids, cementing and pumping services, well intervention and stimulation products and services, well testing services, well site communications and data and software solutions.

The Ororo field, discovered in 1986, is located within OML 95 in shallow waters offshore Ondo State. The field lies in water depths ranging between 23ft and 27 ft.
