Scotland Attracted GBP 1.7 Billion Investment in Renewables

During 2011-12 period Scotland attracted the second highest level of renewable investment in the UK, worth a total of GBP 1.7 billion, creating 4,411 jobs, says the Scotsman.

The DECC’s announced results, which followed the publication of the Government’s draft energy bill, say that only Yorkshire managed to secure a place ahead of Scotland having secured GBP 1.9 billion and 5,416 jobs.

Furthermore, in that same period, renewable energy companies unveiled UK investment plans worth GBP 6.9 billion, supporting 20,848 jobs in the industry.
