The driller said on Wednesday that the contract was awarded to its West Vencedor rig.

According to the company, the backlog for the firm portion of the contract is expected to be approximately $20 million with the start period expected in the third quarter of 2019 and running through 2Q 2020.

Seadrill has not revealed the name of the client nor the dayrate for the rig under this new contract.

Back in November 2018, the rig owner started preparing the West Vencedor rig for its contact with Petronas in Myanmar, which was scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2019. According to Seadrill’s latest fleet status report, the rig’s firm contract with Petronas expires in May 2019 with possible options running until July 2019.

West Vencedor is a purpose built semi-submersible self-erecting tender assisted drilling rig featuring 10k dual BOP, off-line pipe handling, stand building and designed to work on TLPs and SPARs in up to 6,500 ft of water with pre-laid mooring. The rig was built by Keppel FELS in Singapore in 2009.
