Seajacks to Install Foundations and Wind Turbines for Meerwind Project in Germany

Seajacks UK Limited (Seajacks) announced it has entered into a contract with WindMW GmbH (WindMW) for the installation of foundations and turbines for the Meerwind Project, which will be located off the coast of Germany in the North Sea near the island Helgoland.

Seajacks will be providing services as the main installation contractor and will use vessels from Seajacks fleet to install the 80 foundations and wind turbine generator sets at Meerwind’s location in the German Bight.

Since 2009, Seajacks vessels have installed over 125 turbines at Walney and Greater Gabbard offshore wind farms in the UK.

WindMW is responsible for the planning and construction of Meerwind. The company’s main shareholder is The Blackstone Group, one of the world’s leading investment and advisory firms.

Construction is expected to start in 2012.
