Seanamic strengthens market position through IMES acquisition

Surface to seabed company, Seanamic Group, has acquired IMES Ltd, an inspection, and monitoring engineering solutions company, headquartered in Aberdeen.

The company said on Wednesday that bringing IMES within the Seanamic Group strengthens the company’s ability to deliver products and services to the surface to seabed market.

IMES will join Glasgow-based marine handling systems specialist Caley Ocean Systems and Houston-based cable manufacturer Umbilicals International as the third member of Seanamic. The Group was established by the independent investment bank, Simmons & Company International in 2014.

David Cooper, CEO of Seanamic Group, said: “The high-quality inspection services and monitoring products offered by IMES Ltd are an excellent fit with our existing systems focussed businesses.

“As we operate in many of the same industry sectors, we see tremendous synergies with the range of IMES services and products. The acquisition by Seanamic provides IMES with the financial stability and access to future investments needed to ensure the long-term stability of the business.

“All aspects of the old IMES Ltd business have transferred to a new company, IMES International Ltd, providing a seamless transition and removing the risk to ongoing service delivery.”

IMES is the provider of bespoke monitoring and load measurement systems to the marine, maritime and oil and gas industries. In addition, IMES has an inspection product range for diagnosing integrity issues including subsea electrical fault isolation, integrity assurance of FPSO risers and marine vessel tail shaft integrity assurance.

Apart from its Aberdeen headquarters, IMES has offices in Plymouth, Portsmouth, Rosyth, and Sheffield.
