UK-based Babcock has confirmed a new three-year contract to provide oil and gas company Serica Energy with offshore helicopter crew transport services.

The contract will see Babcock transport Serica Energy passengers to and from the company’s Bruce complex in the North Sea, 340 km north east of Aberdeen, the services provider said in a statement on Thursday.

The flights will use a mix of S-92 and H175 helicopters and are scheduled to begin on December 1, 2019, out of Babcock’s main helicopter terminal at Aberdeen International Airport.

Director Offshore, Simon Meakins, said: “We have flown for Serica Energy several times previously so we are very pleased to have now been selected as their aviation partner of choice for this long-term contract.

“All of us at Babcock Offshore are looking forward to building our relationship with Serica Energy as we deliver the safe and efficient aviation support they require.”

On November 30, 2018, Serica took over BP, Total, BHP, and Marubeni’s interests in the Bruce (98%) and Keith (100%) assets and BP’s interest in the Rhum (50%) asset, with BP and Total retaining 1% of Bruce. Serica also assumed operatorship of Bruce, Keith, and Rhum from BP.

Collectively, these assets are estimated to contain net 2P reserves of 56.9 mmboe as of 01.01.19, of >80% gas.

The Bruce gas field is a late life asset located in blocks 9/9a, 9/8a and 9/9b in the Northern North Sea. The Keith oil field is located in block 9/8a in the Northern North Sea, 6.4 km to the southwest of Bruce. The Rhum gas field is located in block 3/29a, 44km north of Bruce and is a subsea development tied back to the Bruce platform via an insulated pipeline.
