Sevan Marine to Investigate Petrobras Corruption Claims

The Oslo-listed offshore drilling company Sevan Marine ASA has launched an investigation following reports in Brazilian press linking the company to alleged corrupt activities involving Brazil’s oil major Petrobras within the Operation Car Wash (”Lava Jato”).

Sevan says the company recently became aware of articles in the Brazilian press which refer to a former manager and agent of Sevan Marine being named in connection with the Brazilian authorities’ investigation into Petrobras’ corruption scandal.

”Based on the specific content of the Brazilian press articles, including that Sevan is named, the company has engaged the law firm Selmer to conduct an investigation. Sevan Marine ASA has offered full co-operation and has been in contact with the relevant authorities on this matter,” the company said in a statement.

Sevan Marine is the latest in a series of firms linked to making illegal payments to win inflated contracts from the state-owned Petrobras.
