Shell sets sights on Portrush drilling (Norway)

Shell Norge is reportedly planning to drill an exploration well 6407/10-4 in Portrush prospect located in the Norwegian Sea. 

According to petro.no, the well will be drilled with Transocean’s semi-submersible drilling rig Transocean Barents.

Portrush is located in the production licence (PL) 793 which is 29km southwest of the Draugen field located about 150km from Kristiansund, Norway. Water depth at the site is 340 meters.

The drilling is scheduled to start on August 1, 2015 and it will last for 48 days.

The partners in the licence are: AS Norwegian Shell (40%, operator), VNG Norway AS (20%), Faroe Petroleum Norway AS (20%) and Petoro (20%).

Faroe Petroleum received its 20% interest in the exploration licence PL793 in January 2015 under the 2014 Norwegian APA Licence Round.
