Shell takes delivery of third LNG-powered OSV in Gulf of Mexico

Shell has been delivered the third LNG-powered Offshore Supply Vessel, the Harvey Liberty, in Port Fourchon, Louisiana, to support its deep-water operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the company’s statement issued on Tuesday, The Harvey Liberty, chartered from Harvey Gulf International Marine, will join her sister ships, the Harvey Energy and Harvey Power.

The LNG-powered OSV runs on 99 percent liquefied natural gas fuel and can operate for up to 15 days before refuelling.

The Harvey Liberty is 302 feet long and operates on three dual-fuel Wärtsilä engines.

It will load from Harvey Gulf’s LNG bunkering facility in Port Fourchon where it will support Shell’s platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, transporting supplies, equipment, and drilling fluids.
