Ship Finance Orders Two LR2 Tankers from Daehan

Bermuda-headquartered Ship Finance International Limited (SFL) has ordered two long range 2 (LR2) tankers from South Korea’s Daehan Shipbuilding, with an option for two more ships, VesselsValue’s data shows.

SFL will invest USD 42 million in each of the two 114,000 dwt newbuildings, according to information provided by VesselsValue.

The 62,000 gross ton vessels are scheduled for delivery in March and April 2018, respectively.

Each of the tankers will have a length of 249.9 meters and a width of 44 meters.

In December 2015, the firm also ordered two 114,000 dwt LR2 oil product carriers from an undisclosed shipbuilder in Korea.

According to VesselsValue’s data, the two tankers are currently under construction at Daehan shipyard.

The ships are expected to be delivered during the second half of this year and will be deployed under long-term time charters with a US-based investment-grade energy company.

SFL has a fleet of more than 70 vessels, comprising tankers, bulkers, car carriers, containerships and offshore assets.
