Shipping Corporation of India Receives New AHTS Vessel

‘SCI Kundan’, an anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTS), was delivered to the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), Mumbai. This is the second in the series of four vessels of 120T Bollard Pull AHTS being built by the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) for the SCI.

Captain Devadas, senior vice-president for the SCI, and P Vinayakumar, Director on behalf of the Cochin Shipyard, signed the Protocol documents of the ship, according to IBN Live.

Among the witnesses of this signing were Cmde K Subramaniam, CMD, CSL and senior officials from CSL and SCI. ‘SCI Kundan’ can accommodate 29 persons, and be used as a platform supply vessel besides the anchor handling facility. These vessels are used as support platforms to rigs and oil platforms.

The shipyard is building four other offshore vessels for the SCI, all of which are in advanced stages of construction.
