Shtokman Partners May Sell LNG to Japan

Liquefied natural gas from the Shtokman project in Russia may be shipped to Japan, Reuters reported, citing Gazprom’s CEO Alexei Miller.

The Japanese market is the biggest LNG market in the world and considering the decision by the Japanese government to reduce nuclear power generation, the demand for LNG into Japan will only increase,” Gazprom CEO said.

So of course LNG deliveries from the Shtokman field (to Japan) are being considered by the partners,” he added.

Shtokman Development AG is a joint project created by three industry leaders — Gazprom (51%), Total S.A. (25%) and Statoil ASA (24%).
