‘Siem Helix 1’ kicks off Brazilian ops

American oil and gas services provider Helix Energy Solutions has informed that the Siem Helix 1 vessel has started operations offshore Brazil and is on contract for Petrobras.

The Siem Offshore-owned well intervention vessel will be performing well intervention services under a multi-year contract with the Brazilian oil company, Helix said on Wednesday.

Siem Helix 1 was initially supposed to start its contract with Petrobras no later than July 22, 2016. However, Helix and Petrobras agreed last June to postpone it and reduce the dayrate for the vessel. The vessel experienced further delay as it was working through Petrobras’s inspection and acceptance process.

Recently, a pipelay support vessel Skandi Búzios also started working for Petrobras. The vessel is owned by the joint venture formed between TechnipFMC (50%) and DOF (50%).
