Siemens Awards Triton Knoll OTM Contracts

Siemens Transmission & Distribution Ltd. has awarded the Smulders-ENGIE Fabricom consortium with a contract to manufacture two Offshore Transformer Modules (OTMs) for the Triton Knoll offshore wind farm in the UK.

In the first round of contract awards as the preferred supplier for the project’s substations, the UK-based company also selected JGC Engineering and Technical Services to fabricate and fit out the high-voltage equipment containers.

Siemens will deliver the containerized high-voltage equipment to the Smulders-ENGIE Fabricom yard in Hoboken, Belgium, with the consortium responsible for the design, fabrication, blasting and painting of the modules.

Once assembled, the modules will be transferred to the ENGIE Fabricom yard where the containers will be mounted onto OTM platforms.

The Smulders-ENGIE Fabricon consortium will then perform the outfitting works on the platforms and will complete further interconnections, testing and commissioning.

Triton Knoll will comprise 90 MHI Vestas 9.5MW wind turbines installed 33km off the Lincolnshire coast.

The 860MW wind farm will have two OTMs mounted on monopile foundations and connected to the national grid substation at Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire.

Innogy, the developer, plans to have the project fully operational in 2022.
