Signal International Earns SCA's Excellence in Safety Award

For the calendar year of 2011, Signal International has again earned the “Excellence in Safety Award” from the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA).  Currently for 2012, Signal Ship Repair has incurred -0- OSHA recordable incidents, hence presently demonstrates an OSHA recordable rate of -0-. Moreover, Signal International’s company-wide OSHA incident rate presently stands at 0.21.

The Shipbuilders Council of America is the largest and most broad-based national trade association representing 50 companies that own and operate over 120 shipyards, with facilities on all three U.S. coasts, the Great Lakes, the inland waterways system, Alaska and Hawaii. SCA also represents 76 affiliate members that provide goods and services to the shipyard industry.

Each year the Council issues safety awards to companies whose OSHA incident rates are below the association’s collective average. For the calendar year of 2011, Signal International had a company- wide total OSHA recordable incident rate of 0.82, compared to the SCA’s average of 5.16.

Signal International was established in 2003 and has now earned the award eight out of the past nine years.
