Construction of ST-216 Arctic PSV Right on Schedule

SIMEK, headquartered in Flekkefjord Norway, announced progress on the construction of ST-216 Arctic platform supply vessel (PSV), ordered by Gulf Offshore Norge, a subsidiary of Gulfmark Offshore, Inc. Accordingly, the two propellers have been installed on Yard no. 129 and the interior and outfitting work continues.

The main engines of the vessel, based on the very successful ST-216L CD design, have also been installed including a boiler and motors for the two bow thrusters.

Construction of ST-216 Arctic PSV Right on Schedule

The vessel is said to have new modified bow shape and a new improved tank configuration. The entire hull has been sandblasted and the keel has got its first layer of paint. In addition, insulation work has commenced in the wheelhouse.

This vessel is designed for harsh environment operations, and will be ice classed and winterized for cold climate conditions. ST-216 Arctic will have over 1000 square meters of deck area and large cargo carrying capacity. In addition, the vessel will have a green profile and fitted for rescue and oil recovery capabilities. Delivery of this vessel is scheduled for July,  2013.
