Siport21 to Consolidate Its Strategic Business Areas (Spain)

After an annual net turnover figure of 1.6 million Euros last year, Siport21 is facing 2012 immersed in consolidating its strategic business areas, the internationalization of the company and its technical staff, based on solid and backed up technical experience of more than 450 studies of manoeuvring, ship behaviour and maritime safety.

This background has permitted to participate in some projects of the most innovative naval engineering developed in 2011, such as ” “New system for LNG Transfer using a FSRU” (Argentina), international record, or “New Outer Port of Ciutadella” (Spain). This last project included, for the first time in Spain, the authorization of a local Pilot in a new port and pilotage exemption of Captains based on simulator training.

Related to strategic business areas, it is noteworthy the success of Training Programmes for Captains and Local Pilots. During 2011, around 100 Captains and Local Pilots, who work in important shipping companies -BP Shipping, Teekay, Knutsen, Golar, BW Gas, GDF Suez, Shell Shipping, Stena Lines, MOL LNG, NYK Lines, etc.- have carried out one of these programmes at Siport21 Simulation Center. These programmes remain an important and growing activity of Siport21.

Also is remarkable the incursion of Siport21 in the Marine Energy area. In this area the company has developed studies related to maritime traffic interference with offshore wind farms and feasibility study of sinking operations of gravity structures.

From of the point of view of the internationalization, projects have been carried out in 13 countries during 2011: Germany, UK, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Republic of Angola and Gabon. This means consolidation in some countries and opening new markets in other cases.
