Tallink’s new LNG-powered fast ferry Megastar, that was delivered to Tallink Grupp from Meyer Turku shipyard was bunkered at Helsinki’s West Harbour on Wednesday.

Skangass performed the bunkering operation using a truck-to-ship method, the company said on Thursday.

In October last year, Tallink Grupp signed deals with Eesti Gaas in Estonia and Skangas in Finland for the supply of liquefied natural gas for its LNG-fueled newbuild fast ferry Megastar.

Skangas bunkered the LNG-fueled ferry at its Pori terminal in early January for testing purposes, but the vessel will continue bunker regularly at the West Harbour.

The vessel that cost €230 million (Approx: US$247.2 million) to build has been delivered to its owner earlier this week. The ferry has the capacity to transport 2800 passengers and features a car deck for 800 passenger vehicles and it is scheduled to begin service on January 29.
