Skangas and the chemicals company Kemira have entered into an agreement on the supply of LNG for the Kemira plant producing water treatment chemicals in Kaanaa industrial park, Pori, Finland.

The facility will be using liquefied natural gas in its production processes, Skangass said in its statement on Wednesday.

LNG will be delivered in the gaseous form to the Kemira production plant via a connection pipeline from the Skangas Pori LNG terminal.

Kemira’s Pori plant produces water treatment chemicals for the purification of drinking water as well as wastewater.

The heat required in the manufacturing process of the product mainly made for exports has been generated using propane gas, which will now be replaced by LNG in order to improve safety in fuel distribution while at the same time reducing the plant’s annual carbon dioxide emissions from process fuels by around 15 percent.
