Skangass, Reichhold Sign Long-Term Supply Contract

Skangass has recently signed a long-term supply contract with Reichhold AS at Øra, near Fredrikstad. Reichhold AS – which is part of an American corporate group – produces unsaturated polyester resins and gelcoats which are used in the manufacture of wind turbines and pleasure boats, among other things.

Reichhold is in the process of rebuilding its TT boilers and purification systems to facilitate their conversion from oil to natural gas, starting before this year’s summer holidays.

The company will be supplied with natural gas direct from Skangass Øra terminal. The process leading up to the signing of the supply agreement in January has been exciting, and Factory Manager Petter Hemmingsen Knutsen is very pleased that the agreement is now finally secured. Knutsen emphasises in particular the environmental benefits that will be achieved by transferring from oil to natural gas, in addition to significant improvements to maintenance.
