South Korea: November LNG Imports Decline

South Korea imported 2.32 million mt of LNG in November, down 35% from the same month in 2010 when the country purchased 3.55 million mt of LNG, Korea Customs Service data showed.

The country’s imports of LNG jumped to 2.98 million tonnes, 9 percent year-on-year in October, as the world’s second-largest LNG buyer built its inventory ahead of winter demand.

Recently, Japan and South Korea have reached a basic agreement to jointly buy LNG, in the hope of lowering import prices.
