South Korea’s May LNG imports up YoY

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports into South Korea rose 12.1 percent in May year-on-year, according to the customs data.

The country received 2.8 million tonnes of LNG last month, as compared to 2.5 million tonnes in the corresponding month the year before.

Qatar remained the dominant source of South Korean imports with 0.87 million tonnes of the chilled fuel supplied from Qatar in May. These volumes rose by 0.23 million tonnes as compared to last year.

LNG deliveries from Australia were slightly down to total 0.53 million tonnes while imports from the US rose 0.28 million tonnes from last year to total 0.34 million tonnes.

The rest of South Korea’s LNG deliveries in May were sourced from Indonesia, Oman, Peru, Russia and Malaysia.
