Sovcomflot: Keel-laying ceremony held for Yamal LNG tanker

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering shipyard in South Korea on Monday hosted a keel-laying ceremony for an Arctic ice-class LNG carrier, Sovcomflot of Russia said in a statement.

The ceremony was attended by the representatives of Sovcomflot, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping , Bureau Veritas and other guests, the statement said.

The 172,600 cubic metres tanker will be used to transport LNG from Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project in the Arctic.

It will be operated through a long-time charter between SCF and Yamal LNG. The tanker is to be completed in 2016.
