The average price of spot LNG arriving in Japan during the month of June was at $5.6 per mmBtu, reaching a 10-month low.

The monthly data provided by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), shows a decline of 1.8 percent from May, when it recorded the arrival-based price of $5.7 per mmBtu.

The arrival-based price hit its lowest level since August last year when it reached $5.4 per mmBtu, the data shows.

However, compared to the corresponding month in 2016, when the price of LNG arriving in Japan was at $4.5 per mmBtu, the current price rose 24.4 percent.

The ministry has not revealed the contract-based price for the month of June due to lack of reported purchases.

Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessments, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
