Keel laying

Italian shipbuilder Finactieri has held a keel laying ceremony today at its Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa, for the Silver Muse, an ultra-luxury cruise ship which Fincantieri is building for Monaco-based cruise company Silversea Cruises.

Finacantieri cut the first steel of the ship in July. Silver Muse will represent an evolution of the Silver Spirit designed delivered by Fincantieri in Ancona in 2009. The ship is scheduled for completion and delivery in spring 2017.

At 40,700 gross tons and 212 meters long, the new unit will be able to accommodate 596 passengers on board and it will maintain the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodations that are the hallmarks of the Silversea experience.

The addition of the Silver Muse will expand Silversea’s fleet to nine ships.

The Italian shipbuilder has another 14 units are under construction or on order at the moment.
