Norway’s Statoil has closed production from its Aasgard A offshore field due to rough weather in the Norwegian Sea.

According to Reuters, the company’s spokesman yesterday said that production iaasgard_es expected to be back online as soon as Sunday.

The news agency further reported that Statoil’s will evacuate around 310 workers from various platforms, but no more production shutdowns are expected.

Aasgard A field is located about 200 kilometres off mid-Norway. The field has been producing oil since 1999, through the Aasgard A FPSO unit.

Åsgard ranks among the largest developments on the Norwegian continental shelf, embracing a total of 52 wells drilled through 16 seabed templates.
