Statoil further extends ‘Bideford Dolphin’ contract

Norwegian offshore drilling contractor Dolphin Drilling, a subsidiary of Fred. Olsen Energy, has entered into a one-well contract extension with Statoil for use of the Bideford Dolphin rig.

According to an Oslo Stock Exchange filing on Friday, the extension includes one optional well and it is for operation on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. It will start by July 31, 2017.

The one-well program is estimated to take 50 days and estimated contract value is approximately $8.6 million. The rig’s previous, one-well extension with Statoil was agreed in January.

Bideford Dolphin is an enhanced Aker H-3 design semi-submersible drilling rig. It was built in 1975 in Norway.
