Statoil in minor North Sea gas find

Statoil of Norway on Thursday made a minor gas find located west of the Oseberg South field in the North Sea, some 140 kilometers west of Bergen.

Norwegian petroleum directorate revealed in a statement that Statoil, the operator of the production license 104, encountered an approx. 20-metre gas column, of which 10 meters were in sandstone with good reservoir quality in the Tarbert formation.

According to preliminary estimates, the find holds between one and two million standard cubic meters of recoverable oil equivalents.

NPD added that the well was drilled to a vertical depth of 4083 meters and 3928 meters bellow sea surface with a water depth of 99 meters.
