Statoil to drill at PL 090 with Songa Trym

Statoil Petroleum AS has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 35/11-17 in production licence 090 in the North Sea using the Songa Trym mobile drilling rig.

Drilling is planned to begin in mid-January 2014, with a duration of around 60 days, depending on whether a discovery is made. Water depth at the site is 360 metres.

Songa Trym is a semi-submersible drilling rig built in Norway at Aker Værdal, and completed in 1976. The rig is owned by Songa Offshore ASA and will be operated by Odfjell Drilling AS.

The rig received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in February 2013.
