Statoil to plug Gullfaks Sør well with Deepsea Atlantic

Statoil has received consent from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) to use Deepsea Atlantic semi-submersible drilling rig for permanent plugging of well 34/10-52A/B at Gullfaks Sør.

Statoil to plug Gullfaks Sør well with Deepsea Atlantic

Gullfaks Sør lies in blocks 34/10 and 33/12 in the northern part of the North Sea. The field has been developed using a total of 12 subsea templates tied back to the Gullfaks A and Gullfaks C platforms. The water depths are 130-220 metres.

Expected start-up of the operation is mid-August 2014, with a duration of approximately 16 days.

Deepsea Atlantic is a semi-submersible drilling rig of the MODU GVA 7500 type and is operated by Odfjell Drilling AS. The rig was completed in 2009. It is registered in Norway and classified by DNV.
