Storm Closes Ports in New South Wales

All pilotage services have been suspended at Port Botany from 6:30 hours local time September 23, and at Sydney’s Port Jackson from 7:30, due strong winds and high swells of up to 7 metres, according to the New South Wales-based seaport operator Sydney Ports Corporation.

The ports will remain closed throughout the day, and the situation will be further assessed in the early morning hours on September 24.

Shipping movements at the Port of Newcastle are currently restricted pending assessments of conditions, with the port remaining under ”Heavy Harbour Entrance.”

All movements are being assessed consecutively, vessels have been able to sail out during today, but some inwards movements have been delayed.

The Port of Port Kembla is presently open and there have been no delays reported thus far.
