StormGeo launches OceanWatch and SpillWatch

StormGeo, a provider of decision support services and products to support weather sensitive operations, has announced two new services named OceanWatch and SpillWatch.

According to the company, the new services enable oil and gas companies and renewable energy companies to make informed assessments of operational and environmental risks during drilling and to understand how ocean conditions affect their enterprises.

OceanWatch is a modular system that monitors ocean currents and the subsea environment to provide continuous, real-time, site specific monitoring and forecasting with 24/7 expert assistance and emergency support. The company says that the solution can be tailored to fit actual client requirements for both short and long-term operations. StormGeo adds that OceanWatch is an integrated, turnkey solution that can be installed and applied to any offshore structure and location in the world.

The SpillWatch module uses models, simulation tools and sensors to track and predict the trajectory and fate of accidental oil spills.

Kent Zehetner, CEO of StormGeo explains, “The OceanWatch service fits well with StormGeo’s goal to provide our customers with ‘one address’ for access to the best available information on the physical environment during both planning and operations.”

Zehetner continues, “As the oil and gas business is moving into more environmentally sensitive areas, the need for better understanding and control within the physical environment, including currents, is increasing, and StormGeo will continue to develop innovative and user-friendly solutions to help our customers make knowledge-based decisions.”

StormGeo will be demonstrating OceanWatch and SpillWatch at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston this week at booth 5427.
