Stream Tankers Returns to Japan for Two Chemical Tankers

Norwegian company Stream Tankers has placed an order for two 19,900 dwt chemical tankers at the Japanese shipbuilder Fukuoka Shipbuilding on July 5, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Under the contract, the company has an option to order two additional 19,900 dwt chemical tankers, which would be handed over to Stream Tankers in 2019.

The contract price was not disclosed, however, VesselsValue placed the value of the two ships on firm order at USD 64 million.

Stream Tankers, owned by Utkilen AS (60%), EGD Shipholding AS (35%) and BSCO AS (5%), previously ordered five chemical tankers, with options for three more at Fukuoka Shipbuilding in February 2014.

However, the company’s sold eight newbuildings, along with its two existing chemical tankers, to BW Tankers Limited in May 2014.
