Strike Hits Port of Algeciras

Over 250 workers of companies linked to APM Terminals in the port of Algeciras, Spain have staged a strike on Wednesday at the port, Spanish newspaper Europa Sur  writes.

The APM Terminals spokesperson confirmed to World Maritime News that the strike is underway.

As reported, the strike is planned to last until the 20th of January.

The reasons behind the strike are said to be talks on collective bargaining agreement.

The strike is expected to affect the terminal’s operation since the auxiliary sector plays a major role in its daily operation.

Algeciras is Spain’s largest container port and one of major ports in Europe.
