STX O&S Confirms Order for Three Tankers

STX Offshore & Shipbuilding (STX O&S) has won order for three 51,000 DWT tankers from a Greek shipowner.

The newbuildings are to be equipped with G-type engine, a model for next-generation mid-size tankers which is low in fuel consumption and more eco-friendly, and can load 5% more cargo as compared to the existing ships.

The contract also includes options for four tankers of the same type and one 155,000 DWT shuttle tanker.

The vessels, to be built at Jinhae Shipyard, are scheduled for delivery by early 2015.
