Subsea 7 lands new work from Woodside off Australia

Subsea engineering, construction and services company Subsea 7 has been awarded a ‘sizeable’ contract by the Australian energy company Woodside for the Greater Western Flank Phase 2 (GWF-2) project, offshore Australia.

According to Subsea 7, a sizeable contract is defined as being between $50 million and $150 million.

Woodside approved the Greater Western Flank Phase 2 (GWF-2) project off the north-west coast of Australia in December last year.

The GWF-2 project will develop 1.6 trillion cubic feet of raw gas (2P 100% project basis) from the combined Keast, Dockrell, Sculptor, Rankin, Lady Nora and Pemberton fields using subsea infrastructure and a 35 km, 16” pipeline connecting to the Goodwyn A platform.

The Greater Western Flank is located 60 km southwest of the GWA platform.

Subsea 7 said on Friday that the contract scope comprises of a subsea tie-back of adjacent fields to the Goodwyn Alpha platform, including the installation of manifolds, umbilicals, and spool pieces, together with the pre-commissioning of the system.

Project management and engineering will begin immediately from Subsea 7’s office in Perth, Australia, with offshore operations scheduled to begin in 2018.

Andy Woolgar, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this project from Woodside Energy Ltd. This is the fourth award from Woodside in recent times, and we are pleased to be able to continue this strong working relationship.”
