Swansea tidal every major part to be made in Wales

The proposed GBP 1 bln worth Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay project will have every major part manufactured in UK and assembled in Wales.

Wales Online reports that the Tidal Lagoon Power’s CEO, Mark Shorrock, said to members of Cardiff University Network that the construction of the four proposed tidal lagoons in the Wales would create major economic benefits for the region.

Tidal Lagoon Power has proposed the construction of 4 tidal lagoons in Wales: off Cardiff, Newport, Colwin Bay and Swansea Bay.

The company intends to construct 6 lagoons in total with Somerset and West Cumbria tidal lagoon sites in England.

The proposed tidal lagoons will contribute GBP 27 bln to the UK GDP over the 12 year period of construction, Shorrock stated in his address at Cardiff University.

“Every major part of the lagoon is going to be made in the UK and assembled here in Wales,” WalesOnline quotes Mark Sherrock as saying.
