Swire to provide cargo units for Total’s Martin Linge

Swire Oilfield Services has secured a contract to supply Total with cargo carrying units for production and drilling activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

The contract is to provide cargo carrying units for the Martin Linge field and other licensed exploration sites on the NCS. The contract is for four years, with options for 2 + 1 + 1, and start-up in July 2014.

As well as supplying a range of cargo carrying units, Swire will support Total through a range of associated services, including maintenance and handling, and the option to use Swire Oilfield Services’s asset tracking solution.

Manfred Vonlanthen, Swire’s Norway General Manager, said: “The Martin Linge field is one of the few major fixed platform field developments on the Norwegian continental shelf, and we feel that the decision by TOTAL E&P NORGE AS is a very strong endorsement of the industry-leading support and services that we can offer to the oil and gas sector. This contract is a significant development for Swire and we are proud to be selected as Total’s long-term partner.”

The Martin Linge field is one of the most significant developments during recent years on the NCS, and is situated 42 kilometres west of Oseberg, at a water depth of 115 metres. The field is estimated to hold oil and gas reserves of about 190 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Production is due to start in the fourth quarter of 2016. Swire Oilfield Services has the largest fleet of offshore cargo units in the world, with 60,000 in its fleet consisting of 150 standard designs plus hundreds of custom units. It offers a range of specialist units accommodating everything from frozen to dangerous goods. All of the units come complete with the appropriate industry certification and Swire is recognised by organisations such as DNV and LRQA.
