SWS Pens Ten BCs

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) and CSSC Shipping (Hong Kong), one of the China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC) subsidiaries, have signed a contract for the construction of up to ten bulk carriers.

Under the deal, SWS will build 5+5 208,000 DWT bulkers scheduled for delivery from 2016 onwards.

With the total amount of 10 million DWT in new orders, ranging from VLCCs, 180K DWT bulk carriers, 208K DWT bulk carriers to offshore products, SWS has made a historical achievement and is among leaders in the global shipbuilding market.
